Our story

Why I built Local Greenz

Local Greenz started long before there was a store, a logo, or shelves stocked with produce. It started with my own health journey.

Like many people, there came a point where I wanted to be more intentional about what I was eating. I wanted to lose weight, improve my health, and make better choices for my body. What I didn’t expect was how difficult it would be to find food I could genuinely trust.

Everywhere I looked, products claimed to be healthy, natural, organic, or good for you. But when I turned them around and read the ingredients, the story was often different. Added sugars disguised under different names. Long ingredient lists. Products marketed as healthy but filled with unnecessary additives and preservatives.

As a scientist, I found myself constantly reading labels, researching ingredients, and trying to separate marketing from reality. And I kept asking myself:

  • Why is eating well so complicated?
  • Why does healthy food require so much detective work?
  • Why isn’t there a place where people can simply shop with confidence?

That’s when the idea for Local Greenz Market was born.

I wanted to create the kind of store I was searching for myself, a place built on transparency, trust, and thoughtful curation. A place where customers don’t have to spend hours analysing labels or wondering whether a product is really what it claims to be.

By combining my scientific background with my love for good food, I set out to build a destination where wellness feels simpler, more accessible, and less overwhelming.

Every product we stock is chosen with intention. Every ingredient matters. Every decision is guided by one question:

“Would I confidently feed this to myself and my family?”

At Local Greenz, we believe food should be honest. We believe customers deserve transparency. And we believe healthy eating shouldn’t feel like a guessing game.

Food you don't have to second guess.

One of the values I live by is: I say what I mean, and I mean what I say. Local Greenz is an extension of that belief.

My hope is that Local Greenz becomes more than just a store. I want it to be a trusted wellness destination where people feel supported, informed, and empowered to make everyday food choices with confidence.

Because when it comes to the food we eat and the health of our families, trust matters.

  4. 04

We keep food closer to its source

Fewer steps between the people who grow your food and your kitchen means greater transparency and stronger relationships with our suppliers.

  5. 05

    We waste less good food

We restock regularly, manage produce carefully and find useful ways to give good food another life before it becomes waste.

Our Promise

Food you don't have to second-guess.

We exist so you can shop with confidence, feel genuinely cared for, and trust every single thing you bring home to yourself and your family.

Our Freshness Promise

We believe healthy eating starts with trust. We source from trusted growers, producers and suppliers who share our commitment to quality.

We restock multiple times each week so customers receive products at their freshest and to reduce unnecessary food waste, sourcing thoughtfully and replenishing often, rather than holding excessive inventory.

If we wouldn't feed it to our own families, we won't sell it to yours.

Our Wellness Philosophy

Wellness is not a quick fix, a detox tea or a single superfood. It's built through everyday choices: the food we eat, the habits we practise, the routines we repeat.

Our role is not to tell you how to live. It's to make healthier choices easier, more accessible and less confusing.

As a scientist-founded business, we believe in transparency, evidence-informed decision making and food you don't have to second guess.

Our Farmers

Meet the farmers behind your food

Food you don't have to second-guess starts with people you can trust. We're proud to work with farmers across Kenya who share our commitment to quality, transparency and growing food the right way.

Why we work directly with farmers

We believe the best food starts at the source. By building relationships with farmers across Kenya, we're able to better understand how food is grown, support local agriculture, and bring you ingredients we feel proud to stand behind.

Because food you don't have to second-guess starts long before it reaches our shelves.

The Scientist's Edge

Why Local Greenz Exists

A scientist's eye shapes what earns a place on our shelves. We look beyond the front of the label, question what's inside and consider where it comes from. We source carefully and ask the questions that matter. So you don't have to.

What does the science tell us?
  • Look past the claims.
  • Read what’s inside.
  • Know where it comes from.
  • Ask better questions.

What we're built on

Four principles behind every choice

01

Science informed curation

We choose with intention, looking beyond marketing to quality, ingredients and what actually makes sense. Less noise. Less guesswork.

02

Making good food easier

We simplify the choice, so you can shop with more clarity and confidence without decoding every label yourself.

03

Honest, clean label food

Fresh produce and carefully chosen products with ingredients that are clear and easy to understand. No unnecessary extras.

04

Know your source

We value close relationships with Kenyan farmers and suppliers. We ask questions, understand how food is produced and, wherever possible, get closer to the source.

Our local team

The people behind the counter

Local Greenz is a small team. The people who take the delivery, check it over, press the juice and pack your bag are the same people who meet you at the door. When you ask where something came from, you are asking whoever handled it.
